Manuela
Leadership Trainer
Leadership specialist focused on communication and workplace skills.
Manuela is an ILM Leadership and Management Level 5 qualified trainer, specialising in leadership development and practical workplace skills.
Her courses focus on effective communication, decision-making, and team management, empowering individuals to confidently navigate workplace challenges and drive success.
As a Deaf BSL user, Manuela is committed to creating inclusive and accessible learning experiences. Manuela also holds an Adult Education Training Level 3 qualification, further enhancing her training expertise.

Paul
Training Lead and Consultant
20+ years experience delivering BSL Level 1–6 and leading training excellence.
Paul is a native BSL user and as the Training Lead at DeafAdvance Training Centre, brings over 20 years of experience as a highly skilled BSL Teacher. He delivers courses ranging from Level 1 to Level 6, is a qualified TAQA A1 assessor, holding a BSL Level 6 certificate and has an ILM Leadership and Management Level 5 qualification.
Paul is passionate about raising the profile of BSL, inspiring learners to embrace the language with confidence and enthusiasm.

Henry
Senior Trainer
Engaging trainer from a Deaf background with 20+ years in the field.
Henry is a native BSL user, having grown up in a Deaf family where BSL is the primary language. With over 10 years experience as a BSL Teacher, he is known for delivering engaging and interactive classes, making learning both effective and enjoyable.
Henry has been working in the Deaf field for more than 20 years and holds PTTLS Level 4 and BSL Level 6 qualifications.
Henry also delivers ILM Leadership and Management courses and holds an ILM Leadership and Management Level 5 qualification.

Anna
Training Coordinator
Coordinates training delivery and supports learners across programmes.
Anna Rubens is our Training Coordinator who plays a central role in the DeafAdvance team, managing the administrative aspects of delivery of our accessible and inclusive training courses.
Anna is a hearing BSL user with a Level 6 BSL qualification who is also training to be a Sign Language Interpreter.
Anna is committed to RAD’s vision of creating a future of achievement and equality for all Deaf people and raising the profile of BSL.

Alison
Trainer
30+ years global experience in Deaf education and curriculum design.
Alison is a senior sign language educator with over 30 years of international experience in Deaf education, curriculum design, and inclusive learning development.
Fluent in BSL, SASL, Auslan, and ISL, she has designed and delivered programmes across schools, universities, and community settings, supporting learners at all levels. Her work includes teacher training, resource development, and contributions to sign language research and AI data projects, ensuring linguistic accuracy and educational integrity.
Holding an MA in Fine Art, she brings a creative and reflective approach to teaching, fostering confidence, cultural awareness, and strong communication skills.

Estelle
Trainer
15+ years in education specialising in Deaf Awareness and BSL.
Estelle has been a trainer with RAD for over three years and brings more than 15 years of experience in education. Specialising in delivery of Deaf Awareness courses and BSL tasters, Estelle also delivers BSL Level 1.
Estelle holds an Adult Education Training Level 3 qualification, further enhancing her training expertise. Estelle is a native BSL user and holds qualifications in Deaf Awareness and British Sign Language, offering learners authentic and insightful instruction.

Tim
Trainer
Native BSL signer delivering courses and Deaf Awareness training.
Tim is a native BSL signer with British Sign Language as his first and preferred language. He holds a BSL Level 6 qualification. As well as being a qualified BSL teacher, Tim has also volunteered with deaf children internationally, including in the United States and Jordan, bringing a broad perspective to his work within the deaf community.
Tim works for RAD as a Trainer – DeafAdvance, delivering British Sign Language courses from Level 1 to Level 3, alongside Deaf Awareness training and supporting our Consultancy provision.
Tim is passionate about promoting accessibility and inclusion, supporting deaf and hearing people to communicate with confidence and build more inclusive environments.
